For those of you just using the Asterisk open source provided echo canceller you do not have to make any changes. If however you are using the HPEC version that is less than 9.00.005 you need to upgrade.
The new release fixes some memory leaks in both the 32 and 64 bit versions of the software. This can cause freezing/crashing and audio problems. The latest version of the binary only software can be be obtained here. The source of this information is detailed in Malcolm Davenport's Blog. Just a side note but the HPEC software is FREE to anyone that has a Digium card that is still under warranty. You can solve most of your echo problems with this software, it is much better than the open source version. Just contact Digium with the serial number of your Digium card and they will provide you with a FREE HPEC license. |
