In developing SimplePBX and learning about Asterisk I've had to obtain certain pieces of software and hardware. My main development computer at this point is a Dell Latitude D600 1.6Ghz with 512MB memory and 80G hard drive. I have installed Ubuntu 6.10 and for the most part all the features are working. I've replaced the wireless card from 1350 down to an 1150 which Ubuntu seems to like.

For testing Asterisk in different environments I have installed VMware Server 1.0.1 for Linux. This is not an open source package but its free and works really well. Yes Asterisk does work in Virtual system like VMWare but there are plenty of problems that you may need to resolve.  For actual coding I am using the Debian packages for Freepascal .

I have a standard Compaq PC with 1GB of memory for testing analog hardware like the Digium 400P PCI card.  I have taken some pictures of some of the items and put in the Gallery section. These are close up shots in different angles. I just hate the small images that manufacturers put on their own sites, they don't really give you an idea of what you are looking at. Enjoy!
