Digium is well known for their Asterisk Open Source Telephony system supporting both VOIP and traditional PSTN hardware connectivity. One of the ways that Digium has been able to support this Open Source platform was by subsidizing it's research and development through hardware sales and consulting revenue. Even though Digium sells a commercial version of its Asterisk system the majority of Asterisk installation have been with the Open Source version by third party consultants and companies.

From the Release Notes:

The Asterisk development team is proud to announce the releases of versions 1.2.20 and 1.4.6!

These releases are regular maintenance releases. They have been made just a couple of weeks after the previous set of releases because the development team has been working especially hard on fixing bugs lately. There has been a large volume of issues fixed in just two weeks.

I've been re-organizing the website for the past few weeks. I have included more tutorials for Asterisk and Voip. I have also added more popular download links and have increased the amount of Forums to cover more areas.  I am working with more Asterisk and Linksys hardware these days so the content of this website will reflect that.  Look for more exciting content soon!

  • Online update of core modules and the rest of the application framework (which is everything else that is not a module).
  • VmX™ Locater, a new enhancement to the Voicemail/Follow-Me features that effectively provide each user (who has it enabled) a personal IVR (so to speak). It is controlled by the user in the ARI portal, where Follow-Me is also now exposed, and can work in conjunction with Follow-Me in a fully integrated manner.

From the Release Notes. Updates can be downloaded from www.asterisk.org

The Asterisk development team has announced the releases of Asterisk-addons 1.2.7 and 1.4.2.

Version 1.2.7 contains some minor updates to the H323 channel driver that is in this package. Version 1.4.2 contains some additional bug fixes which include compatibility updates for Asterisk 1.4.5.
